Rain Causes
Transformer Fire & an MVA
Robbinsville (Mercer County)-
Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Patchy
fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around
67. Light southeast wind. Chance of
precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts
of less than a tenth of an inch, except
higher amounts possible in thunderstorms was
forecasted by the National Weather Service
of New Jersey for the night hours of July 5.
Rain that had fallen earlier in the day was
off and on and did not last very long.
However, around 8:35 PM firefighters
responded to Winterset Drive for a report of
a Transformer fire. After responding to the
same area earlier in the day for a
transformer fire, Engine 402 proceeded in
Non-Emergency. Deputy 40 arrived on scene
and reported a utility pole on fire just
behind the transformer and that there were
loose fallen wires involved as well.
Approximately 9:20 PM, Robbinsville PD
dispatched firefighters for the are of 14
Witmer Way for an Investigation of Smoke.
While Engine 402 and Ambulance 140-12
responded, Utility 40 and Deputy 40 remained
on scene awaiting the arrival of PSE&G. PSE&G
arrived on scene at which point Robbinsville
PD again dispatched firefighters for a 3rd
call for an MVA with injuries. Deputy 40
responded and reported a one vehicle MVA
with the car into a utility pole. 140-12
arrived on scene seconds later to assess the
extent of injuries to the driver and secured
an RMA. However, Deputy 40 and SS40 remained
on scene with lighting while awaiting the
arrival of the Tow company to remove the
vehicle and for Robbinsville PD to
investigate the reason of the crash.
All Station 40 units were returned and back
in quarters by 11:00 PM at which point
Robbinsville PD dispatched firefighters to
the same Fire Alarm at 1350 Rt. 130 the
Trails Inn Motel.
