ROBBINSVILLE TO HOLD 9/11
OBSERVANCE
ROBBINSVILLE, N.J. – Robbinsville
officials, firefighters and police will take part in a
ceremony to honor all who lost their lives in the
terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The ceremony
will begin at 10 a.m. at the Town Center 9/11 memorial
off Lake Drive and Hutchinson Road.
The ceremony will take place at the
memorial dedicated to township resident Pamela Gaff, one
of 175 employees of Aon Corp. who died in the attacks.
Several years ago, members of firefighters’ union, IAFF
Local 3876, installed a memorial stone and tree in her
memory.

This year, Mayor Dave Fried, Council
President Chris Ciaccio, Council member Bill Lesniak and
representatives from the Divisions of Fire and Police
will participate in a formal ceremony that will include
laying a wreath and a ringing of the fire bell, a
traditional part of ceremonies honoring firefighters who
died on September 11th.
“For several years, I have been asked
whether we would have a September 11th event in
Robbinsville,” Mayor Fried said. “This year, Council
President Ciaccio asked that we work with our public
safety personnel to honor those who lost their lives in
the attacks.”
“I’m glad our community is having its
own event this year,” Ciaccio said. “Almost everyone in
our community knows somebody who was personally affected
by the attacks. I want to thank our firefighters for
organizing this observance.”
“This is a day that should never
be forgotten,” said Deputy Fire Chief Chuck Petty. “Many
new heroes were born that day – firemen, police,
military and everyday citizens.”
Members of the public are encouraged
to attend.
About Pamela Gaff
Pamela Gaff was vice president,
controller and director of information technology for
the consulting group at Aon Corp. at the time of her
death, which came the day after her birthday. She worked
on the 102nd floor of the South Tower of the World Trade
Center, and died hours before she was scheduled to fly
out of New York City to Chicago to make a presentation.
Gaff and her husband, Kevin, had been married 29 years
after meeting as freshmen at Burlington County College.
She lived in the area her entire life.
